    Our LGBTQ+ affinity group is welcoming to all UNA students who identify with and/or support LGBTQ+ communities. This group gives students a safe space to make friends and and offers mutual mental health support through fostering a sense of belonging.

  • The University Case Manager is committed to ensuring all students are safe, happy and healthy at UNA. The University Case Manager is available to offer support and referrals to services promoting student success. If you are experiencing barriers to success you can contact the University Case Manager at hunderwood1@una.edu or complete the Student of Concern Referral Form.

  • The Center for Women's Studies aims to educate, support, and reach out to women on campus in the context of a global community. 

  • Disability Support Services offer accommodations and assistance, documentation of disabilities and documentation guidelines as well as scholarship opportunities, and more.

  • University Health Services operates a medical clinic to care for and treat minor illness and injury. Students can see one of the licensed healthcare providers at no charge. Lab tests and prescription medications are available for a fee that is much less than most clinics. Faculty and staff can receive care for a nominal fee. University Health Services clinic does not bill insurance.

  • A Mamava on-campus lactation suite is located on the first floor of the GUC, in the mailroom hallway. To ask a question or report a problem with the lactation suite, contact the Office of Title IX (titleix@una.edu). The lactation suite is accessible at any time during GUC operation hours. Access to the suite is available through the Mamava app (available on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store) additionally, the Office of Title IX can provide a code to open the suite. 

  • The Office of International Affairs (OIA) serves as the catalyst for fulfilling UNA’s international education mission through specialized services and premier programs by enhancing academic excellence, enriching cultural experience, and energizing economic growth. OIA consists of international recruitment and admissions, international student and scholar success, education abroad and international exchange, academic English, and global partnership development.description

  • The OneStop inside the Wendell W. Gunn University Commons is your single point of contact for the foundational essentials regarding your experience as a student here at UNA. If you have any questions regarding your MANE Card, Financial Aid, Student Accounts, or the Office of the Registrar, they will be more than willing to help you. 

  • Student Counseling Services offers support services for UNA students to help in the development of coping skills to manage problems that may be threatening their health, well-being, and/or academic performance. Make an appointment or take an anonymous mental health screening!

  • SNAP provides nightly escorts anywhere on campus to persons on request. The service is staffed by students equipped and supervised by the University Police Department.

    Escorts are routed on foot or in a University Police Golf Cart. A person requesting an escort may contact SNAP via telephone at 256-765-4357 (HELP). The requester provides their first name, location of pick-up, and destination to the dispatcher who determines the best method of meeting the requester's need. An escort is then dispatched, to their location to escort them to their destination safely.

  • The mission of The Pantry is to support the basic needs of the UNA community and raise awareness about the growing issue of food insecurity across campus. Fill out a Pantry Request Form here.

  • Title IX focuses on awareness and prevention of domestic violence and harassment. Review their Online Reporting & Public Incident Report if you or someone you know has experienced a Title IX violation.

    *Emergency? CALL 911 for immediate assistance. Public Incident Report forms are not checked after business hours.

  • If you need help connecting with free tutoring, campus resources, or just need some extra support, then  fill out our application and become part of the TRIO SSS family here at UNA. UNA's TRIO SSS program is a federally funded program that provides academic support to qualifying students to help ensure that you are successful in your educational goals at UNA. 

  • Period supplies (tampons & pads) are located in the women's restrooms and gender neutral restrooms of the GUC and Collier Library. 

  • The UNA Police Department is located in the basement of Keller Hall. To contact the UNA Police Department, call 256-765-4357. If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

  • The Crisis Center mission is to respond to individuals and families. Phone lines are open 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. There is always someone to provide a listening ear and a non judgemental, caring response. All calls are confidential and free of charge.

  • One Place of the Shoals, Inc. provides crisis care services to victims of domestic violence, adult rape and sexual assault, child sexual and physical abuse, and elder abuse. This ground-breaking collaborative family justice center provides a safe and comforting atmosphere with state-of-the-art facilities for victims and their children facing this most difficult part of their lives.

  • PFLAG Florence-Shoals is a local support group for families and friends of lesbians, gays, transgender, and bisexual individuals.

    PFLAG Florence-Shoals meets every 3rd Monday of the month. PFLAG Florence-Shoals is open to all GLBT, their families, friends, and allies.

  • The Safeplace mission is to promote healthy relationships by providing education, intervention, and safe places. They also provide anonymous help and information for you or someone you know at any time of day or night.   • Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other that they may solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for AA membership; we are self-supporting through our own contributions. A.A. is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization, or institution;  does not wish to engage in any controversy; neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Their primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

FAQs

  • A preferred name is a name that students plan to go by on campus. Other than cases where legal name is required, this is the name will be used in different instances such as CANVAS and class roster.

    A request to add a preferred name to be used for CANVAS and class roster should emailed to registrar@una.edu Please include your legal name, new name, and L# when making request in the following format:

    Current Legal Name: Firstname Lastname

    Requested/Preferred Name:  Newname Lastname

    L#: 

    Please note: There are limits to what you may select as a campus name. Character limits and character restrictions apply. At this time, middle names cannot be changed on the roster without a legal name change. 

    **ETS should be contacted for a request name change. If there is a legal name change or change to a student’s name in Banner, it will automatically update in Canvas, and ETS will not need to be contacted.  

  • Absolutely! We have a Student Hangout room and new Lounge room are open every Monday - Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM for students to stop by, have a quick bite, do homework, or play games. Our lounge room also doubles as a lactation room for those who need it, with comfy seating, mini-fridges, and a microwave for you to use! We welcome everyone!

  • No, we are not. If you've experienced some sort of sexual harassment, misconduct, or discrimination the decision of what, when, and to whom to report is always up to you. Confidential reporting sites at the University of North Alabama include Title IX and Student Counseling Services.
